Shadow Puppet workshop provides unique experience for Young Carers
Wiltshire Young Carers, in partnership with Salisbury International Arts Festival, have been given the opportunity to take part in the 2016 Salisbury Festival.
20 young carers spent two days in April creating stories and making shadow puppets, at a workshop run by Community First. The puppets will be animated in a performance at the Festival on the 29th May, in the grounds of Salisbury Cathedral.
Their creations were extremely diverse, ranging from Anime and Warner Brothers characters to animals, political and love themes. They created scenery and some brilliant story lines to enhance the performance. They will also have the opportunity to show other young people how to make and animate shadow puppets during the day.
They all worked really hard and really enjoyed this unique experience. The Young Carers that took part have all gained the Arts Award, ‘Discover’ – which is designed for ages five and above, but is open to anyone up to 25 years old.
