Young Listeners Programme equips young people with vital skills

Youth Action Wiltshire’s Ambassadors for 2016 have been taking part in an exciting new research project for Community Organisers on behalf of Healthwatch Wiltshire.

Ten young people aged 16-18 who have attended previous programmes through their involvement with Youth Action Wiltshire, have been trained in safeguarding, risk assessment, managing behaviour, and listening and communication skills to carry out listening’s across Wiltshire to gain the views of young people around young people’s experiences of health and social care.  They are making sure the most vulnerable young people’s voices are heard.

The Young Listeners are now entering their second phase of listening and are looking to carry out further listening’s with young people that are either or young carers, young people with special educational needs and mental health and wellbeing.  The findings will be reported back to Healthwatch Wiltshire and presented this November for public release.

If you know of a youth group that would like to be visited by the young listeners please contact Cleo Evans Youth Programmes Coordinator on 01380 729813 or email cleo@youthactionwiltshire.org
