Community First recognises volunteers with 2015 awards
Community First, which celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year, has again recognised the amazing accomplishments of community volunteers and young people - with its annual awards.
The awards, which are in their fourth year, were originally set up by Youth Action Wiltshire, the youth arm of Community First, to recognise the achievements of the young people and young carers that they work with. Community First has now extended the awards to celebrate the achievements of volunteers and community groups around Wiltshire.
Winners were presented with trophies and framed certificates at an award ceremony at Devizes Town Hall on Wednesday, 7th October, by William Wyldbore-Smith, Vice- President of Community First.
Each of the award winners are special and deserving of recognition, in many varied ways. From ‘Young Carers’ - who care for family members from a young age, and young people taking part in Community First’s youth programmes – to those volunteers who give their time for community causes.
Lynn Gibson, Community First Chief Executive says: "The adult volunteers that we are recognising via these awards are the lifeblood of the community groups that they serve. Without the skills, time, energy and enthusiasm given by community volunteers, crucial support such as LINK Schemes and Community Transport would be unable to run.
We are proud of the support that we provide to young people in Wiltshire via our Splash and Youth Action Wiltshire programmes. The young people whose achievements we celebrate in our awards this year, have all been joyful in their participation in their activities, and have been truly outstanding in their resilience.”
