Grittleton Road Racers – Land’s End to John O’Groats cycle race raises almost £15,000 to fund activities for Wiltshire Young Carers

The cycle group known as the ‘Grittleton Road Racers’ has completed its latest challenge – a sponsored cycle ride on behalf of Youth Action Wiltshire, the Youth arm of Community First, Wiltshire and Swindon’s Rural Community Council.

The Grittleton Road Racers rode from Land’s End to John O’Groats, setting off on Thursday 18th June 2015. The route took in Wales and Ireland, as well as Mull and Skye. The group rode 100 miles per day. 1100 miles, 11 days, 4 boats and 1 train.

To date, the Grittleton Road Racers raised an amazing £14,831.43 for Wiltshire Young Carers through their efforts. Readers interested in supporting them to reach their £15,000 goal can do so via: https://www.justgiving.com/teams/grrs

Lynn Gibson, Chief Executive of Community First, said: “We are delighted that Piers and The Grittleton Road Racers have taken the time to set about this great challenge on behalf of Youth Action Wiltshire. We hope to use the funds raised to put in place arts projects for Wiltshire Young Carers. These kind of projects are hugely beneficial to the young people that we support and will make a massive difference.”

Team lead, Piers Dibben, says: “I have been riding with the Grittleton Racers for around ten years now. Our group we are really pleased to have the opportunity to support such a fantastic charity, and one which does such great work locally, for and on behalf of, young people”.
