| Wiltshire & Swindon Crimebeat |
Wiltshire & Swindon Crimebeat encourages groups of young people to work with friends to set up a project either on their own initiative or by drawing on the advice and support which can be received through school, college and community group or youth organisation. Although you may not find it too difficult to come up with the initial proposals, you will probably need to give a lot of careful thought and planning to turn them into effective projects. That is part of the challenge of Wiltshire & Swindon Crimebeat and since 2006 Crimebeat projects can now be focused, long term sustainable projects costing more than £500. Small community groups and projects in Wiltshire and Swindon are to benefit from a £1.4 million cash injection, after The Community Foundation for Wiltshire & Swindon won a government competition to distribute funding to grassroots initiatives in the area, it was announced today.
The money is part of £130 million nationwide drive by the Government to support thousands of groups and projects across the country, working to improve their local communities.
The win means that The Community Foundation for Wiltshire & Swindon will be able distribute £744,776 in grants over the next three years to small local charitable organisations, best able to use the money to make a real difference to their communities. The Community Foundation will use their expertise and knowledge of the local area to seek out eligible groups but would also encourage groups who may not have applied for a grant before to think about applying.
Local community organisations could also stand to benefit from a further £625,777 if local philanthropists and businesses come forward to put up cash to match some of the government’s funds announced today. Under the scheme, individual donors and companies may qualify for a 50% top up on their donations for example turning a gift of £20,000 into £30,000 by drawing on the match funding available.

| UnLtd Sport Relief Award |
Are you an entrepreneurial young person, between the ages of 11 - 21?
Would you like to promote understanding and solve conflict in your community?
Do you have an idea of how to do this though sport?
The UnLtd Sport Relief Award might be for you…..
UnLtd Sport Relief Awards provide cash awards of up to £500 (11 - 16 years old) and between £500 and £5000 (17 - 21 years old) to people like you to run a community project that uses sport to bring communities together to resolve conflict and promote understanding. We also offer you support to help you make the project a success and provide the chance to network with other inspiring young people.
For example, with this money you could engage young people from different backgrounds by organising an indoor cricket mini-world cup. Or perhaps you could help reduce violence in your area by getting young people to channel their energies into football rather than fighting. Or how about organising a skateboarding competition for kids that will reduce tension in the local area.
….all it takes in one great idea. So what are you waiting for? This could be your chance to get your community moving and score some skills on the way.
